| June 6, 2010 Welcome new neighbors! |
|
Donna DiMillio tells us: A great big welcome to the neighborhood for them. They will be having a house-warming later in the summer. Jacque is also my sister so of course I am thrilled. It has been 25 years since we lived by each other. She has been in Hawaii for many years. |
| This from another new neighbor, Gerry Erskine: Moving here from
Bradenton, Fl. Single. I retired 9 years ago from Mars, Inc. where I was in sales management and business planning for 25 years. I've lived in Colorado, Kansas City, New Jersey, worked all over the Midwest, Phx, Colorado, etc. Been involved in tennis as a player, coach, trainer, writer most of my life. Absolutely love Tucson and the Catalina area. Real nice people. Beautiful area. Right now focused on fixing up my new home. Looking forward to meeting the neighbors, beer parties, helping out the community, etc. |
| Also, thanks to Buck McCain for his $100 contribution to the road maintenance fund. |

| The Charouleau Vista Neighborhood Association held a reorganization
meeting at the home of Don and Annemarie Baker. A large number
of people attend and heard a presentation by Dawn Doubek and Lloyd Golder,
IV regarding the plans for developing the vacant land near Edwin Rd. & Santa
Monica. |
| A motion was made and seconded acknowledging the support of the Association
for the Golder project of “green homes” on 1.5 acre parcels and the associated
road upgrades. There was much discussion of the ramifications
of making Edwin a county-owned and maintained road up to the Canada Del
Oro wash. These include the ability of Pima county Sheriff’s
Office to patrol the road and enforce speed limits on Edwin, the willingness
of Pima County to work with the owners on signage, speed bumps and other
means of controlling access and speeds, the mitigation of dust on the road,
and more. Mr. Golder told us they are working with affected
property owners to come to a mutual agreement on compensation for losing
15' of land for the required right-of- way. He said Pima County
has expressed a willingness to grandfather those properties regarding lot
splits the owners may have plans for. |
| The motion carried unanimously. |
| Mike McLaughlin presented a bid for road grading and maintenance on
the dirt portion of Edwin. Included were other possibilities
of repair and maintenance along with cost of adding material.
Over the past few years Mike has spent many hours with his equipment keeping
Edwin passable, usually with little or no compensation. The
discussion among the homeowners represented at the meeting was that Mike
continue to maintain the road (and be compensated) until the Golder development
project has a more definite outcome and/or time–line. |
| Chuck Tyree reported on the bridge and thanked those who contributed
to the fund during the recent need for maintenance. |
| A motion was made and seconded asking residents to contribute $100
per year for road maintenance and other related expenses. The
motion carried unanimously. There currently is $515.28 in CVNA
bank account. Additionally, 4 families so far have made their
$100 contribution. It should be noted that the contribution
is not mandatory but every property owner is asked to contribute their fair
share. Information on where checks can be mailed will be posted
on the web site as soon as we have confirmation from the post office that
our original box number is still available or if a new box will be necessary. |
| A motion was made and seconded that the Association voice its opposition
to the placing of any mobile home or manufactured home in the area.
The motion carried unanimously. It was pointed out that nearly
all the lots in this area have deed restrictions allowing only site-built
homes. Derek Pipes volunteered to carry the Association’s stance
on the issue to parties who are involved in preventing mobile/manufactured
homes from being placed on area lots. |
| There was a discussion on noisy and destructive ATV and Quad riders.
This led to a motion to place a “private road” sign in the area of the cattle
guard; motion was seconded and carried. |
| Malinda Berry was asked to act as Chair of the Neighborhood Association
until such time as another volunteer is found to take her place.
She agreed and asks that anyone who would like to help please contact her. |
| The Association will not have regular meetings, but will meet when
an issue needs to be brought to the attention of the residents.
Malinda suggested we have a neighborhood social event so neighbors can get
to know each other. |
| It was also agreed that approximately once a month, a group will get
together to clean up the sides of the road, trim brush encroaching on the
road, etc. The notice for these work parties will be posted
on the web site and placed in the flyer box by the cattle guard. |
| With no further concerns or discussion items, the meeting was adjourned. |
| Respectfully Submitted, Patrick Berry |

RE: Contributions and Road
Work
For those who were present at the bridge meeting with the county officials on February 9th, you know we were threatened
with citations if we "altered the natural flow of the water in the flood plain."
We can still do bridge and road work!
If you have not contributed since the major bridge rebuild in 2008, I encourage you to do so. By raising an average of $50
per household, we can finish the repair work that still needs to be done and perhaps have money for future emergencies.
I know that some cannot afford to do that at this time, but you contribute to our mutual well being in other ways.
Please make checks payable to El Puente Corporation and mail to:

| The Catalina transfer station is scheduled to permanently close next year and
for those that use it for garbage, recycling and green waste recycling (Feb-June), this is unfortunate. If you want to do something about it, you can send a personal letter requesting it to stay open to the following address: |
